Software development

Custom software and integrations for small business

Custom software, API integrations, and legacy modernization for Denver SMBs — connect the systems you run and automate the manual work

Table of Contents

Get software that fits how your business actually runs. We build custom applications, connect the systems you already use, and replace the manual steps that eat your team’s time. No oversized platform, no jargon — just working software you can maintain.

The problem we solve

A lot of small businesses run on a spreadsheet that started simple and grew into something fragile, or on two tools that don’t talk to each other so someone re-types the same data twice a day. Maybe you have an old application nobody can update anymore, or an online store that doesn’t match what your accounting system shows. These are fixable problems. They don’t need a research lab — they need a developer who will sit with your process and build the missing piece.

What we do

  • Custom small-business applications — software shaped around one job your business does, like an inventory-tracking system or a home-inspection platform. We build the thing the off-the-shelf tools won’t, and keep it simple enough to live with.
  • Application Programming Interface (API) development — when two systems you use don’t talk to each other, we build the connection that moves data between them, so no one is copying records by hand.
  • eCommerce and accounting integration — if your online store doesn’t sync with QuickBooks, we connect them so orders, inventory, and revenue line up without manual reconciliation.
  • Legacy-system modernization — we move an aging app or a breaking spreadsheet process onto a maintainable platform, carefully, so you keep your data and your day-to-day doesn’t stop.
  • Practical automation — we use automation, including artificial intelligence (AI) tools, only where it clearly earns its keep for a small business. That means things like reading data off scanned documents with Optical Character Recognition (OCR), categorizing expenses, or a simple chatbot or search over your own company documents. The goal is a business outcome — less manual work — not AI for its own sake.

A finance and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) background means the software we build respects accounting rules and connects cleanly to your financial systems. If the numbers have to be right, that matters.

How we build

We work in languages and tools that are common enough to hire for and stable enough to maintain: Ruby and Ruby on Rails, JavaScript and TypeScript with React, Python, C# and .NET, SQL, and Bash. We build standard Representational State Transfer (REST) APIs that exchange data as JavaScript Object Notation (JSON), and we run applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud — wherever fits your budget and what you already use.

We use modern tooling, including AI coding assistants like GitHub Copilot, to write and review code faster. That speeds up delivery and keeps your cost down. It’s a tool in our hands, not a feature we sell you.

Who it’s for

  • A growing business that runs out of a spreadsheet and it’s starting to break — too many tabs, too many people editing, one bad paste away from losing a day’s work.
  • A shop whose online store doesn’t sync with QuickBooks, or that has two systems that don’t talk to each other and a person stuck bridging them by hand.

If you recognize your business here — “we have an old app nobody can maintain” — that’s the moment to call.

How we work

  1. Discovery. A free conversation about what you run today, where the manual work and the breakage are, and what a good outcome looks like.
  2. Prototype or proof of concept. We build a small, working piece first so you can see the approach before committing to the full build.
  3. Iterative build. We develop in short cycles, showing you progress and adjusting as we go, rather than disappearing for months.
  4. Deploy. We put it into production carefully, with your real data, and make sure it holds up.
  5. Support. We stay available to fix issues, make changes, and help your team get comfortable with what we built.

What to expect

We work in honest ranges, not guarantees. A focused integration — connecting your store to QuickBooks, or wiring two systems together — often runs 2–6 weeks. A custom application or a legacy rebuild is larger and typically runs 6–16 weeks depending on scope, and we’ll size it with you before you commit. You’ll always know what a phase costs before it starts, and you own the code we write.

  • [[ERP consulting]] — for the systems that run finance and operations.
  • [[Data and BI]] — for making sense of the data your applications collect.
